Empirical Bioscience Leaves Incubator for New Facility
(GRAND RAPIDS, MICH)—January 26, 2016—Empirical Bioscience, a company that produces high-grade PCR reagents and enzymes, announced today that it has moved from its GR Current incubator space into a new 6,000 square-foot facility in Grand Rapids.
The company said their new location along with their recent ISO 13485 certification will contribute to their ability to increase their capacity and manufacture an expanded product line. The dedicated facility is fully fitted with state-of-the-art-equipment and offers integrated manufacturing and a product development laboratory on-site.
“The new site will enhance our ability to service custom manufactured products to client specifications and provide our customers with the highest quality products and services possible,” said Des O’Farrell, President, of Empirical Bioscience.
It will also be a blessing to the local economy. “This is a new technology in West Michigan and it will create a long-term knowledge base in commercial and molecular biology,” said O’Farrell. “The move also positions us to continue growing our staff. We’ve recently added two new team members, and additional hires are anticipated as our facility continues to come online during the second and third quarters.”
Empirical Bioscience’s new office is located at 2007 Eastcastle Drive SE off 44th Street SE.
GR Current, a SmartZone incubator in Grand Rapids, provided Empirical Bioscience with wet lab space when they were first entering the industry. The incubator was built with a focus on the life science industry and helps launch, develop and grow start-up companies.
